The lessons in this collection present content that is designed to be integrated into your existing curriculum. They can be used to introduce a unit of study, to support learning during the unit, or to review the content at the end of the unit. All of these lessons will support students’ literacy skills, particularly those of struggling readers. There are four content areas from which you can select a lesson: science and health, social studies, English language arts, and mathematics.
Begin by reviewing the lessons in the Inspiring Middle School Literacy Collection and selecting one that you would like to try in your classroom.
Write down the lesson you have selected. Then explain why this lesson is important to your teaching and to your students’ learning.
