Set Your Goal

Now it’s time to choose your project goal. Decide if your goals are:

  • “Right now” or “someday”
  • Civic action or community service
  • Within reach, specific, and feasible

→ If only one of your possible project goals meets all three of these criteria, then you have your project goal and are ready to move forward!

→ If more than one of your possible project goals meets all three of these criteria, discuss them in your group. Which one do you agree is most important and most interesting?

→ If none of your possible project goals meet all three of these criteria, look to see if any of them meet at least two. Can you “tweak” the goal a bit so that it fits all three criteria?

REMEMBER TO “SAVE” YOUR WORK

This is a good time to pause and check in with your teacher. You’ll need to let your teacher know what your civic action project goal is and why you believe that it meets the three criteria that you reviewed above.
