What is Recycling?
Recycling means turning waste into something new. Metal, glass, plastic and paper are often recycled. Composting is
recycling too. Fruits, vegetables and dead plants can be
composted. They become fertilizer for living plants. Your
old clothes and toys can be given away. They do not need to become more trash.
Recycling reduces the amount of
trash we put in
landfills.
Recycling also uses less
energy than throwing trash
away. You can
reduce your
carbon footprint by
recycling. You can minimize the
number of
landfills around the world.

Do You Recycle?
Do you buy
recycled products?
Recycling and buying
recycled products helps the
environment.
Recycling lets things in your
garbage be made into new objects.
Recycled plastic bottles can be made into jackets. Glass and tire pieces can be ground up. This will become gravel
and sand to fix roads. Food can be
composted and used to help the soil. Some
resources can be
recycled many times. Paper can be
recycled only a few times. Each time it is
recycled, more of the
fibers are broken. This lowers the quality of the paper. The paper is then
used for toilet paper, paper towels, and newspaper.
Recycling saves millions of tons of
garbage
from going into a
landfill each year.
