What is Recycling?
Recycling means turning waste into something new. Metal, glass, plastic, and paper are often
recycled.
Composting is
recycling too. Fruits, vegetables, and dead plants can be
composted.
They become fertilizer for living plants. Your old clothes and toys can be given away. Then they do not become trash.
Recycling reduces the trash we put in landfills.
Recycling also uses less
energy. You can
reduce your
carbon footprint by
recycling. You can minimize the number of
landfills around the world.

Do You Recycle?
Do you buy
recycled products?
Recycling helps the environment. Buying
recycled
products also helps the environment.
Recycling makes your
garbage into new products.
Recycled plastic bottles can be made into jackets. Glass and tire pieces can be ground up. They become gravel and
sand to fix roads. Food can be
composted. It can be used to help the soil. Some
resources can be
recycled many times. Paper can be
recycled only a few times. Each time it is
recycled, more of the
fibers are broken. This lowers the quality of the paper.
Recycled paper becomes toilet paper, paper towels, and newspaper.
Recycling saves millions of tons
of garbage each year. That is less
garbage going into a
landfill.
