What is Recycling?
Recycling means turning waste into something new. Metal and glass can be
recycled. Plastic and paper
can be recycled too.
Composting is also recycling. Fruits, vegetables, and dead plants can be
composted.
They become fertilizer for living plants. Your old clothes can be donated. Your old toys can be given away. Then they do not become
trash.
Recycling reduces the trash we put in
landfills. Recycling also uses less energy.
Recycling reduces your
carbon footprint. This will make less
landfills in the world.

Do You Recycle?
Do you buy
recycled products?
Recycling helps the environment. Buying
recycled
products also helps the environment. Recycling makes your
garbage into new products.
Recycled
plastic bottles can become jackets. Glass and tire pieces can be ground up. They become gravel and sand. Gravel and sand can be used to
fix roads. Food can be
composted. It can be used to help the soil. Some things can be
recycled many
times. Paper can be
recycled only a few times. Every time it is
recycled, more
fibers
are broken. This lowers the quality of the paper. Recycled paper can become newspaper. It can become paper towels. It can even become
toilet paper.
Recycling saves millions of tons of
garbage. That is less
garbage going
into a
landfill.
