How will your district curriculum plan and your own teaching practices change to align to the shifts in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks?
This module will review the shifts across the subjects and grade levels, help you to evaluate where your school/district is in terms of aligning with the changes in the curriculum, and discuss the benefits of the changes to students. It will look at these shifts using examples from Model Curriculum Units developed to help you implement the changing standards. There will be an opportunity in the final assignment to see how these shifts in the curriculum are incorporated into Model Curriculum Units (MCUs) developed to help you implement the changing standards, and, in doing so, how to more effectively utilize the MCUs in your own practice. [Text will be adjusted as final assignment is refined.]
Take notes and save them as you proceed through the module. By clicking “My Work,” you can see what you have saved. These notes will help you to complete the final assignment, an in-depth exercise that offers an opportunity to put into practice new ideas that you have learned in the module.
This PD module should take approximately 1 hour to complete, not including time to write the final assignment. Please note that there are many questions throughout this module to prompt reflection as you read. Only the questions under the heading “Notes Box” at the end of each section need be answered in writing because they will help you to formulate the module’s final assignment.
