Small-Group Presentations
It’s time to practice presenting your argument.
Step 1
- Gather in small groups and take turns presenting your arguments and identifying your audiences.
- Try starting like this: “My opinion is that for students to be healthier, we should ask _____(your audience)_____ to ________________________________________________________.”
- Explain what evidence you have or need to research in order to support your opinion.
STEP 2
- The next step is to get feedback. Ask your group members:
- Do you agree or disagree with my argument/claim?
- What questions or feedback do you have?
- Have I presented enough evidence?
- Do you have any other suggestions?
- Repeat this process until all students have presented and received feedback from the group.
- Take notes on each argument you hear. Mark which ones you find persuasive, and why.
After you have completed the discussion activity, use Write It to answer the following question.
Whose argument in your group was the most persuasive? Explain why in two to three sentences.
You will have the option to upload your assignment, provide a link, or write your short reflection in an online editor.
