For your final assignment, write an elevator pitch for a new app that helps solve a problem in your community and builds empathy.
Tips for Your Elevator Pitch
- The pitch should take about 30–60 seconds to deliver. Check the outline from Organize It to help you.
- Be sure to include steps of the design process to help you (identify a problem, brainstorm solutions, etc.).
- Use engaging language that will capture your audience’s interest and convince stakeholders that your app is well worth the investment.
Write Your Pitch
Use Write It to create your elevator pitch. Then practice your pitch in front of a classmate or teacher the next day. Pretend this person is the person or group most likely to be interested in your app. For example, if it’s about a recycling program in your town, imagine you are addressing the mayor or the local council.
There are countless examples of innovative young people changing the world for the better. Use this process to come up with ideas that may lead to actual apps with a huge buzz around them—like the “Sit With Us” app, which helps students find peers to eat lunch with as a way of reducing bullying.
