A total of 246 crew members and passengers, including business travelers, students, and vacationing families, were killed aboard the four hijacked planes on September 11, 2001. While the entire scope of bravery during the chaos may never be fully known, many stories of extraordinary courage have emerged. Airline crews, passengers, and first responders on the ground risked their lives to resist the terrorists and save others from harm.
