Fun things for you to do.
Create a boat! Make a Junk Boat using recycled materials from around your house. Build a boat that can sail across a pool or a bathtub using only your wind power. Get creative with the junk you choose. Your boat will be one of a kind! Here is a link for junk boat ideas from other REAL kids:
pbskids.org/zoom/activities/sci/junkboats.html. Challenge your friends to make their own junk boats and have boat races!
Create a castle! Collect cardboard tubes, boxes, tape and markers. Arrange your materials in a castle shape and tape them together. Use the markers to draw windows and a drawbridge.
Make a Rain Gauge! A rain gauge tells you how much rain falls over a period of time. It's easy to build one. Collect a clear, empty container, such as a peanut butter or spaghetti sauce jar. The jar should have a wide mouth about the same width as the jar. Use a ruler and permanent marker to mark off one-inch increments from the bottom to the top of the jar. Done! Place your rain gauge outdoors in a place where it won't get knocked over and check it once a week.
Take the Rain Gauge Science CHALLENGE! Use your rain gauge to keep track of how much rain falls each week, Record your rain data in a notebook, just like the sisters in the video. After recording each week's rainfall, empty your rain gauge so you can start over and get an accurate reading the next week.
