This lesson teaches about an important reading skill called point of view. Good readers can identify the difference between the author's point of view and their own point of view as they read text.
The author’s point of view is the reason for writing. The author may have three reasons for writing:
1.
To inform the reader about events or facts,
2.
To persuade the reader to believe his/her opinions or position on a topic, or
3.
To entertain the reader.
You can practice point of view skills by reading nonfiction text with your child. You can ask questions about the author’s point of
view as you read together.
Reading with your child every day will help them become a better reader, perform well in school, and enjoy lifelong learning.
