On the Move!
The temperature is dropping and the sky is gray. The first storm of winter is coming and I have got to get these nuts stored away
safely or I will starve to death! I like eating! I do not want to starve to death this winter!
I have been scurrying up this tree, pushing and pulling acorns into my nest all day long! I am exhausted! Oh no! Large, fluffy
snowflakes the size of snowballs are falling all around me. At this rate, the ground will be covered in no time! Once the ground is
covered with a blanket of snow, I won’t be able to find the acorns! Hurry, hurry, scurry, scurry! Bushy tailed squirrel on the move!
Whooosh. I look up the tree and I begin to panic. I can feel the cold brushing through my fur! The wind is getting stronger and
stronger. The branches are swaying back and forth in the wind. The tree branches are moaning and groaning and bending from the force
of the wind! Suddenly there is a horrible cracking noise!
Oh no! The tree is falling! I stand in shock as I watch the branch which once was home to my nest come crashing to the ground. NO!!
My winter food! All my hard work, destroyed! Hundreds of acorns are rolling down the hill!
My nest! I have to save my nest! But how? Luckily it is still in one piece! There is no way I can push it to the top of another tree
by myself. Deep breath! I must remember to stay calm and think! I know, think SCIENCE! All I need is a rope and some friends!
