On the Move!
It is getting cold outside. The sky is gray. The first storm of winter is here. I have to get these nuts stored safely. If I don't have winter food, I will starve! I do not want to starve; I like eating!
I have been running up and down this tree, pushing and pulling acorns into my nest. UP! Down! UP! Down! I am so tired!
Oh no! Big, fluffy snowflakes are falling all around me. The ground will be covered in no time! Once the ground is snowy, I won’t be able to find the acorns! Hurry, hurry, scurry, scurry! Bushy tailed squirrel on the move!
Whooosh. I can feel the cold air rush through my fur! The wind is getting strong. The branches are swaying back and forth. The tree top moans and groans and bends from the force of the wind!CRACK! No! The tree is falling! I jump back. I watch the branch that used to be the home of my nest come crashing to the ground. NO, not my winter food! All my hard work is destroyed! Hundreds of acorns are rolling down the hill!
My nest! I must save my nest! But how? Oh good! My nest is still in one piece! But I cannot push it to the top of another tree all by myself. Deep breath! Think.
I must stay calm and think! I know, I must think SCIENCE! All I need is a rope and some friends!
