About penguins...
Most penguins live in the southern hemisphere. They stick close to ocean waters so they can hunt fish, krill, and other small sea life for food. Penguins spend about half of their time swimming or bobbing in the water, and are much quicker at swimming than at waddling on land. Since penguins are birds, they have wings - however, they use those wings for swimming, not flying! Though most penguins make their nests in freezing temperatures, some, like the Galapagos penguin, actually live in warmer climates, in the islands off of Chile or South Africa.

Meet the penguin...
"Hi, there. Can you join the party? First, I’d like to get something straight. You might think we live at the North Pole, but we don't hang out in that neighborhood. Penguins actually live south of the equator and two species live in Antarctica - the location of the South Pole.
Though we look a little stuffy, penguins love a party! You might say we're more "tee shirt" than “tuxedo.” Sticking together helps us stay warm in harsh winds and blizzards. Plus, it’s fun when the snow settles. We love to slip and slide: it's a lot more fun than waddling! Here we go! Wheeeee!"
