In this lesson we learned how asking and answering questions while reading can help your child understand information and find key details in informational text. We saw how experimenting can help your child learn and demonstrate their understanding of science concepts in informational text.
Practice reading informational text with your child. Choose a topic that stirs their interest - airplanes, animals, the earth, nature, computers, cars - or maybe even polar bears! Ask them the questions that will help them demonstrate their understanding of key details in the informational text. Ask like you are a nosey person, with who, what, when, where and why questions, and record their answer and observations.
Practicing these tips will increase your child’s ability to read-to-learn!
