Experiment #1: Ice Meets Water
Materials needed:
• ice cubes
• a bowl filled with water
• plastic or foam plates
Instructions:
Make a bowl of water, and dip your fingers in the water.
Describe the temperature of the water. Hot? Warm? Lukewarm? Cold?
Predict what will happen when ice cubes are added. How do you know?
Add more ice cubes and dip your fingers in again. What happened to the water? What are some new words you can use to describe the water?
