Once your students engage with the interactive, narrative-driven approach of Mission US, you may decide to deepen their experience by connecting with relevant community organizations. There are a variety of ways to bring the human experience of history into your classroom.
What historical expertise and artifacts are available in your community? What impact has the history students are learning about in Mission US had on people in their own area, past and present?
You may even find eyewitnesses (or descendents of eyewitnesses) to the very events students learn about through gameplay who are willing to talk with your class about the impact and meaning of these histories.
What resources and organizations in your community can you reach out to for support and to extend your students’ learning from Mission US? Brainstorm a list here.
