North America's First Peoples consist of many nations with different cultural belief systems. However, most Native American nations share certain characteristics that show that they believe that men and women should be treated equally.
Men and women seemed to be assigned the same types of tasks within the communities. Generally, it was only the men who were responsible for hunting, warfare, and interacting with outsiders. Women usually managed the household and internal operations of the community. So, it would be very rare, and probably not acceptable, for a Native American woman to be part of a battle.
