Compare and Contrast
Go to My Work to access the charts you have saved. Refer to the charts to compare and contrast the film and the book. What has remained the same in both versions? What has changed?
Use Organize It to create an outline of the differences between the two versions. Be sure to include the following details in your outline:
- What is the scene about? Why is the scene important?
- How did the opening scene in each version make you feel? Did it make you want to read or watch more of the story? Why or why not?
- How did Dickens use his writing style to make the scene memorable?
- Why do you think the filmmakers changed certain aspects of the opening scene? What effect did these changes have on the scene? On the viewer?
