Using what you’ve learned from the lesson so far, choose one of the following short answer questions, citing evidence from this lesson as well as personal experience. Your responses should be about 4-5 paragraphs long.
- According to a 2016 Gallup poll, 32 percent of Americans trust the media. In 1999, that number was 55 percent. Based on what you’ve learned, why do you think the percentage of Americans who trust the media has gone down so much?
- What kind of strategies can students like you and your peers use to not get tricked by fake news? Develop a personal strategy to analyze news sources from at least three different media outlets you use on a daily basis (media outlets can include social media apps, websites, television or streaming services, newspapers, books, magazines, radio and podcasts, etc.).
