When speaking to kids about these topics, you can highlight that engineers come from different backgrounds and walks of life. They use knowledge of technology, mathematics, and science—as well as many other necessary skills—such as creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, to design and build things that make a difference in people’s lives. In doing so, engineers think about what could be, not just what is, engaging in the fun and fulfilling process of building new and innovative hands-on solutions to everyday challenges. 

To be successful, engineers must act bravely and boldly, taking chances on different wild ideas and quickly learning and adjusting when those ideas don’t work out at first. They are creative and brave, persistent in refining their ideas and solutions, and they help build a better world!
