In this lesson we learned how we can make connections between a series of scientific ideas to better understand informational text.
Practice what you’ve learned by predicting weather at home using weather instruments or technology accessible on the internet. Watch the local weather forecasts and discuss with your child the things you’ve learned about weather words like air masses and humidity. This will help your child understand how meteorologists predict the weather.
You can make connections between other scientific or technical procedures to help your child develop the skills needed to use informational text. For example: discuss technical procedures while connecting TV to speakers or video games. Photograph how-to steps of a recipe to allow your child to guide cooking at home. Be creative, using what interests your child helps make connections with informational text.
Reading to learn is so much fun when families and friends take time to read and learn together!
