Activity: Clothing Samples
You’re about to complete a sampling activity. Get ready!
- The setup:
- With your partner, randomly select 5 students from your class—this will be your sample.
- Take a look at the group you selected. Each student is obviously wearing different clothes, but they share some of the same elements—like sleeve length, buttons, logos, and color.
- Discussion Questions:
- Take a look at your sample. How many students in your sample have buttons on their shirts? How many out of 5 have buttons on their clothes?
- What might this sample indicate for the whole class? (Example: if 3 of 5 had shirts with button, what might that mean if your class has 20 students?)
- Brainstorm other possible other possible clothing ideas to investigate using samples and record them below.
