As you heard in the video, Edison didn’t attend school for very long—only three months in a formal schoolhouse! Because Edison daydreamed and fidgeted a lot, his teacher didn’t think he was capable of learning in a regular classroom. So, instead of keeping him in school, Edison's mother, a former teacher herself, taught him at home.
Edison did a lot as a child that demonstrated his curiosity. He read about all kinds of subjects and was especially interested in science and technology. He performed experiments in his home laboratory—even in the baggage car of the train where he sold newspapers. He also kept thinking of ways to improve on the new technologies of his day.
Edison’s curiosity continued through his adult life. It helped him lead his laboratory team: together, they invented hundreds of devices with many different uses to society.
