The learning and assessment activities are designed to help students better understand content. They can also build students’ critical thinking and writing skills by giving them opportunities to organize their notes, thoughts, and ideas.
As you saw in the video on page 8, Josiah Burden’s class did a Match It activity. The students chose the right terms to complete ideas about the 14th Amendment. Click Match It to explore the activity that students were doing.
As you watch both of these videos, notice how the activity engages students and how excited they are when they find the correct terms. As Josiah notes, this activity can also be used as a formative assessment.

Review the notes you have taken throughout the lesson. Then revisit the chart you began on page 3 on lesson features and the learning needs they address. Is the lesson you chose still the right one? Make any needed changes or add any other information that will be helpful as you plan your lesson.
