We create, learn, share, and shape culture based on the economic, social, technological, and spiritual developments of our time. As a result of our choices, human cultures can change from era to era.
It's obvious that our ancestors set up the systems that govern the present cultures we live in.
So, who will be the ancestors of future human cultures?
We will be those ancestors.
Someday future generations will look back at our collective actions as having determined the systems of their world. How does that make you feel? What responsibility do you feel for those future people? Capture some of your thoughts in the box below.
In this video, futurist Ari Wallach describes how his ancestor's choices during a pivotal moment in world history showed him each of us has the power to create a better future.

Must we all act like heroes to be a good ancestor of the future? Nope. Empathy for ourselves and others, plus a sense of responsibility towards embracing our role in shaping our world, can be enough to make us good ancestors.
How can empathy and a sense of responsibility be enough to build a better tomorrow? Consider how you engage with your community. Think about how you choose to use resources every day. We may not think we have any power to create a better world, but each personal decision we make can have consequences that affect the future.
Imagine it’s 2060--the future. You’ve been asked to write a 200-300 word textbook summary page of the decade spanning 2025 through 2035. What do you hope that page would say? Come up with four (4) key moments, pivotal events, biggest trends, or most impactful changes that you hope would define this period of time. Let your creativity and positivity fly!
