You read persuasive writing every day — editorials, advertisements, reviews, and opinion pieces. These texts challenge you to agree or disagree with the author’s position, or claim. To do this, you must consider the author’s reasons as well as the evidence used to support those reasons.
In this lesson, you’ll explore persuasive passages to determine how an author builds an argument. You will identify evidence and evaluate whether it is relevant, and you will evaluate arguments to determine whether they are effective.
