In February of 1776, John Adams traveled to Philadelphia for the new session of the Continental Congress. His wife Abigail remained at their home in Braintree, Massachusetts, just south of Boston. And, as they always did when apart, John and Abigail wrote to each other. Their frequent correspondence reflects deep respect, admiration, and love for each other. In a letter to John while he was away at the Continental Congress, Abigail urged her husband to “remember the ladies” as he helped shape the new American government.
