The Haudenosaunee Confederacy
Hundreds of years before the Revolution, the Haudenosaunee (formerly referred to as/also known as the Iroquois), or the “People of the Longhouse,” established their own union- what they called the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. Historically stretching across New York State, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy consists of the Six Nations – Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Mohawk, and Tuscarora. Bound together by the Great Law of Peace, an oral constitution that promoted harmony between the nations, the Six Nations.
