Make a Flip Book! Use a small spiral notebook or spiral index cards. With the spiral on top, cut one third of each page up to the spiral binder. Write consonants on the left section of the notebook paper and word families on the right section of the notebook paper. (Here are some word families to write on right sections of the notebook paper: at, an, ape, ake, ed, en, ee, ell, ig, ish, ine, ick, ock, op, ot, one, ug, un, ue, ut.)
Flip the pages to make different letter and word family combinations, and try to read the words!
Make Word Eggs! Use a set of plastic eggs and a permanent marker. Write consonants on one half of each egg and write different word families on the other half of each egg. Mix and match the eggs halves and try to read the words!
Pick a few of these word families to write on your eggs: at, an, ape, ake, ed, en, ee, ell, ig, ish, ine, ick, ock, op, ot, one, ug, un, ue, ut.
