More for Parents! Here are some teaching tips for you.
Illustrations and photos can be very important aids for early readers. Sometimes when teaching children how to read text it is easy to forget to stop and enjoy the pictures!
Discussing the relationship between the pictures and the text is a powerful method to help early readers understand and remember what they read.
Find books with beautiful illustrations that you think would be appeal to your child. Ask your child’s teacher or librarian for books with award-winning illustrators or amazing photographs.
Take a “picture walk” to explore a new book. Talk about each illustration first, without reading the text. Then go back to the beginning and read the book together.
