March and Sing!  It is fun to sound off and march with your friends as you walk down the street.  March and sing the vowel boot camp song or make up your own sound offs.  Have fun with boot camp words and rhymes!

March on Words!  March only on the short vowel sound words – don’t step on the long vowel words!  To play indoors, write each word on a sheet of paper and march on the paper. To play outdoors, write words with short and long vowels sounds using sidewalk chalk. 

Play Vowel Toss!  Toss a ball or bean bag to your partner and say a short or long vowel word (cat or bike).  The person has to catch the ball and call out the vowel sound (“short Aa” or “long Ii”).  If the catcher is right, they get a point. Then it is their turn to toss and say a new word. The first person to get 10 points wins the game!
