Want to avoid putting energy into the wrong cause or trying to solve a complex problem with a single solution (like “zero tolerance”)? By doing some research over the next few pages, you can:
Learn about the Big Topic that your group has chosen. Maybe you’ve heard about your topic before but aren’t entirely sure what it means or refers to.
Narrow your Big Topic and choose a Focus Issue for your civic action project. Narrow your focus and make your civic action project as specific as possible for a better chance of success.
Identify a Community Problem and begin to look for solutions. Identify how your Focus Issue impacts your community and begin to think of solutions that you can realistically put into action.
The boxes below (and on the following pages) serve as a notebook for your ideas and research. Your teacher will check to see that you have completed this work. The boxes save your notes so that you can refer to them anytime during your project.
