About cows...
Dairy cows have been bred specifically to produce a large amount of milk, and most cows produce up to eight gallons per day. Just as is true with other mammals, only female cows produce milk, and only after they have had at least one calf. Cows are very social, and prefer to live near other cows with which they are acquaintances. Farmers have learned that cows produce the most milk when they are happy, well-fed and un-stressed.

Meet the cow...
"They call me the chocolate cow. Everybody loves my chocolate – chocolate milk, chocolate ice cream, creamy chocolate candy bars – Oh, you can thank this bossy cow for all of those! Not that most of you usually do. Chocolate lovers think it’s the cocoa beans that make the tastiest milk chocolate treats. What a load of manure! That’s MY milk in those delicious confections. Without me, you’d have dark chocolate – and that’s it! Barely edible. And don’t get me started on ice cream. I’m udderly unappreciated. And butter! Oh dear, I’m getting stressed … and yogurt! I mustn’t get stressed…..let’s just think about chocolate. Yes, that’s nice…"
