Traditional comidas of a culture are treasured by not only its people, but appreciated by those who value richly varied flavors originating in other parts of the world. In the United States, where people enjoy a wide choice of international foods, Latino dishes such as empanadas, tamales, and tostones are familiar to many.
While every Latin American country offers a wide array of cuisines, many use sofrito and a variety of other ingredients that create unique, colorful, and flavorful dishes such as arroz con gandules y pernil, bandeja paisa, and paella de mariscos.
