What You Will Do
Before we study the oceanic carbon cycles, we should understand why carbon is so important. We all need energy to live and breathe. Carbon is a major factor in our energy producing processes. Natural earth cycling systems keep a balance of carbon and oxygen flowing for our survival. Understanding the process of the oceanic carbon cycles can help us be good stewards of the systems that keep us alive.
In this lesson, you will learn about the importance of carbon and how it cycles from the atmosphere through the oceans using two systems, the solubility pump and the biological pump. You will read and highlight important text in the transcripts of the videos you watch and write short responses to questions after viewing and reading. At the end of the lesson, you will choose one of the systems and write a description.
