Learning Goals
In this lesson, you will look at the water system in the southwestern United States. Using Arizona as an example, you will examine the following issues:
- Where does the water come from?
- What types of fresh water are available for our use?
- How do we store water for later use?
- What are the major problems with the water supply?
- What can be done to conserve water?
During this lesson, you will watch videos, read text, and respond in writing to questions, to understand important information about the water system in the southwestern United States.
At the end of the lesson, you will:
Write a three to four (3–4) paragraph article for the local newspaper describing the water system in the southwestern U.S. and the challenges the region is facing with its water supply. In your article, you will also describe two to three ways that everyone can conserve water.
