Earth is a complex system made up of four “spheres”: atmosphere (air), lithosphere (rock), hydrosphere (water), and biosphere (life). These spheres are always changing and interacting with one another. Feedback loops are one way that the spheres can interact. Understanding Earth’s feedback loops can help scientists predict how Earth's interacting spheres will respond to changes, now and in the future.
Communicate how different spheres are involved in the example of ice–albedo feedback.
