Biodiversity is also important for a healthy honeybee habitat. The reforestation partners that worked with CCBW were careful to choose a variety of trees and wildflower species to ensure a three-season bloom. This kind of biodiversity is called species diversity.
Genetic diversity is also important for healthy bee. This means that the bee colonies need to start from a variety of different kinds of queen bees. A queen bee lays all the eggs in the hive, which will hatch into the next brood. This variety helps the colony to adapt to and survive stresses and threats.
