In 2006, beekeepers started noticing that many honeybee colonies were suddenly dying. Scientists called this bee disappearance Colony Collapse Disorder or CCD.
They believe honeybees are dying off for several reasons: pests and diseases that infect bees, poor nutrition, lack of food due to habitat loss, and use of pesticides.
