Lakeisha and Tyler are having an argument about how to fix a photo, shown here, that will be published on the sports page of the school newspaper.

The problem? Tyler used a computer program to change the resolution and bit depth to get a photo that is less than 2,000,000 bits in size. Lakeisha says the quality of the photo is too low to publish.

Lakeisha thinks that there is a way to use math to estimate the best resolution and bit depth and meet the newspaper requirements:

• The newspaper can only print grayscale photos with a file size of 2,000,000 bits or less.
• Photos can have a bit depth of 2, 4, or 8.
• Photos must look the best they can.
